International award for metro Střížkov
09/17/2009 - A new metro station Praha-Střížkov won international awards.
European Association of Steel Construction (ECCS) valued every two years important buildings in the area of steel structures in the various Member States. This year an international jury selected Steel Design Awards competition nineteen winning buildings and one of the Czech Republic to win the nomination by Czech Association of steel structures.
Specifically, the construction of Prague metro station on the route C, called Střížkov, which has an investor Transport Company of Prague, an architect Ing. Patrik Kotas, general designer Metroprojekt Prague and designer of steel structure company Excon a.s.
Steel structure was constructed by Metrostav – Division 7 (General Contractor), Excon Steel and Vítkovice Power Engineering.
Ceremony, which is considered the biggest event in the field of steel structures in 2009, was held on 17th September in Barcelona, Spain.
Underground Station, designed by architect Patrik Kotas, so get the company of such buildings such as concert hall in Copenhagen, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and the central court at Wimbledon.
In previous years in the competition has already been awarded several Czech buildings, such as O2 Arena, formerly Sazka Arena in Prague, St. Mary's Bridge in Usti nad Labem, a pedestrian footbridge over the highway D8 called cat's eyes or a building in Brno, South Moravian Gas.
